Gerry Evans was born in Washington, DC, 30 December 1938, and grew up in Arlington, Virginia, Graduating from Washington-Lee High School in 1957. She was from a big German American family and had numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. She met and married Robert Evans in 1988 in Arlington and moved with him to his hometown of Las Cruces in 1994. She was an avid gardener and crafts person and enjoyed reading, amassing a large collection of cozy mysteries. Gerry had a beautiful smile that brought out smiles in others. She loved children and her face would light up whenever she saw one. She was quick to give out hugs and compliments. She loved her dogs and cats and had a favorite German Shepherd named Dulcie for many years. She had a host of friends in a spiritual fellowship and in the community and was well known among shopkeepers in Las Cruces and Mesilla. Gerry is survived by her husband Robert, two brothers Buddy (wife Ann) Becker and David Becker, two sons Scott Gerbich and Jeff (wife Debbie) Gerbich, two daughters Holly Kimbrell and Karen (husband Nate) Moore, and two grandsons Nicholas Kimbrell and Dillon Moore. Her parents Clem and Helen Becker predeceased her. Gerry was cremated and will be interred in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial service is to be scheduled at a later date. Any donations in Gerry's memory should be sent to the Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces. PDF Printable Version
