Christopher Alan Saunders, 36, Las Cruces went to be with the Lord Wednesday February 3, 2016.Chris was born July 2, 1979 to Susan and Gary Saunders. Chris loved deeply. He always wanted to be a dad. The happiest day of his life was the day his daughter Lyric Alina was born. He was so proud of her and all of her accomplishes. She was the apple of his eye. Her education was very important to him. He took an active interest making time to go on field trips with her, baking cupcakes for her class, donating items and his time to her classrooms. He spent time with her daily reading, writing, working on math problems and playing educational games. He recognized her talents and knew she was destined for great things. He wanted to encourage and equip her to reach all of her dreams! He also loved being an uncle to his five nephews and niece. Chris and his brother Brian were best buds growing up, and always remained so with Brian and his wife Tiffany. Chris was a wonderful son to his mom and dad and Grandson to his Grandma Bobbie. Chris had recently rededicated his life to the Lord. Although his passing leaves a giant hole in all of our lives and we will always love and miss him, we take comfort in knowing he is in heaven and reunited with his dad. Chris loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing and gardening. He knew how to work hard and was skilled at many things. He was an accomplished writer hoping to someday be published. He loved to spend time with all the family, but especially his daughter, nephews and niece. You could expect to see him playing board games, trucks, playdough, throwing the football, baseball, wrestling, going on hikes, or whatever would bring a smile to their faces. Chris left us all way to soon. He is survived by his daughter, Lyric Saunders; his mother and step-father, Susan and Alan Hain; his brother and sister in-law, Brian and Tiffany Saunders; stepsister Stephanie and her husband Greg Douglass, stepbrother John Hain, his nephews, Evan, Ethan, Eyan, Zaiden and Knoxlee; his niece, Brielan ; his maternal grandmother Bobbie Woodward, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
