"Les" Leslie W. Coffman, 76, of Las Cruces, died February 20, 2015. Les was born November 30, 1938, in Portales, NM, to Leslie W. and Kathryn Coffman. In 1962, Les married his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara J. Medinger, and the couple settled in Las Cruces. Les attended New Mexico State University, earning his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1970. After graduation Les became part owner and Engineer for Southwest Engineering of Las Cruces. He later continued his education by earning his Professional Engineering Certification in 1971. Les began a new chapter in his career in 1986, when he became a Utility Engineer for the City of Las Cruces. Les had many hobbies, including traveling with his family in the United States as well as Europe, and collecting and restoring old British sports cars. He was an avid NMSU basketball fan, holding season tickets since his graduation in 1970. Les is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara J. Coffman of the family home, son Creig M. Coffman of Omaha, NE., married to Anne Coffman, children; Christian W. and Ethan J. Coffman, daughters; Laura J. Pavatt of Rio Rancho, NM, married to Larry, and Shelly Coffman-Nixon of Denver, CO., child; Cadel T. Nixon, sister Pamela N. Shafer of Clovis, NM., married to Don Shafer, brother-in-law Bob Medinger of Oceanside, CA., married to Lisa Medinger; sister-in-law Betty L. Stamper of Tucson, AZ, married to Steve Stamper Les was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Carol D. France of Baton Rouge, LA, married to John France, currently of Las Cruces, NM. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Getz Funeral Home.
