Alan Wesley Granger, 62, left this world on December 20th 2015, at MMC in Las Cruces, NM. Alan Granger was known for his compassionate and unconditional acceptance of everyone who came to him for spiritual guidance. He graciously and passionately communicated the gospel through his eloquent sermons, quick wit, and dynamic one liners. He served the Lord and his community as Senior Pastor of Church of the Crosses and Valley Faith Center for over 38 years. He dedicated his life to strengthening others, and truly believed that "encouragement opens the door of the heart" (Alan). He was born in Waco, TX. on July 30th 1953 at James Connally AFB. He was raised by his mother and stepfather Phyllis and Louis Kranzler, who preceded him in death. He spent most of his young life in Los Angeles CA. Alan served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era, an experience that was to influence his sermons over the years with great stories that were always captivating and poignant. Alan had many accomplishments throughout his life. However, he often said the best decision he ever made was marrying his loving wife Vanna Granger on December 18th 1976. Their marriage was truly a romance for the ages. He studied Theology at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas TX, and received a Doctorate of Divinity from Mason University. He also cofounded the DA County Sheriff's Office Chaplaincy Program.
