Life Legacy Profile Photo

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend Celia Granado Anaya, 90, passed away in the comfort of her home on March 9, 2016. Celia was born on December 25, 1925 in Las Cruces, NM to Cresencia and Jose Granado. She married Nestor Anaya in 1944 and together they raised four sons. Celia used her creativity to start a home-based business, Celia's Flowers, and was well known for the beautiful floral arrangements she created for many local weddings. Throughout her lifetime, she was an active member in the TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 55 group, volunteered with the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Although she was unable to finish high school when she was young, it was always her dream to receive her diploma. In 1974, at the age of 49, she went back to school to receive her GED. Celia was the heart and soul of her family, and her influence and love will live with her family forever. Celia was preceded in death by her parents, Cresencia Loya and Jose Granado; stepfather, Pablo Loya; husband, Nestor Anaya; son, Diego "Rudy" Kramer; and brothers, Arturo Granado and David Astorga. She is survived by her loving sons, Jose Roberto "Bobby" Anaya (Ron), Ramon "Ricky" Anaya (Cindy), and Edward Anaya (Carrie); grandchildren, April Anaya, Ramon "Rick" Anaya, Jr., Aaron Anaya, Edanelle "Eddi" Hererra (Ben), Edward James "EJ" Anaya (Favi), Libby Valles, Zabrina Kramer, William Alpin (Randie), and Revina Church (Andrew); 11 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m., with rosary to follow at 9:30 a.m. The funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. with interment immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Anaya, Jr., Aaron Anaya, EJ Anaya, Ben Herrera, William Alpin, and Dean Palma. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Church and Ron Catherson. PDF Printable Version
