Life Legacy

La Nelda Anita Mansell passed away on May 16, 2017 at La Posada Hospice in Las Cruces, NM surrounded by loved ones. La Nelda was born in Rocky, Oklahoma to Samuel and Margaret Kleiner on January 22, 1926. She attended Rocky schools and graduated Salutatorian from Rocky High School. She was raised on the family farm raising cotton and wheat and continued to have a keen interest in the wheat market. On December 20, 1951 LaNelda married Rupert E. Mansell and they moved to Elida, NM and three years later, they moved to Las Cruces where they lived the rest of their lives. Together, they raised their three children Randel Mansell (wife Cammy) of Ft. Sumner, Twila Leierer (husband David Leierer) of Branch, AR and Cheryl Smith (husband Chuck Smith) of Boerne, TX. La Nelda was a member of the First United Methodist church for many years. She also worked at several shops in La Mesilla after her children were grown. La Nelda will always be remember for her great cooking and baking. It was rare to visit her and not have cake, cookies, or pie. She is survived by her three children, two grandchildren Brice and Lindsay Mansell and one great grandson, Eli. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years, and her sister, La Ferne Rose. A special thank you to Gena Trevino for years of care. Funeral services will be on May 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Getz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
