Life Legacy

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Amelita "Grandma Lita: Hill passed away at home surrounded by her two sons and brother October 1, 2016. Amelita was born to Glen and Alma Fox on February 6, 1938, in Jackson, Oklahoma. She married Boyce Tankersley, Jr. of Mertzon, Texas and raised three sons, Boyce Tankersley, III, Tim Tankersley and Teddy Tankersley while assisting in ranching in Mertzon, Texas and training polo ponies at the Midland Polo Club. After divorcing and moving back to Mesilla Park, New Mexico she married Ken Hill and worked at NMSU in ERIC Clearinghouse and later in the College of Engineering. In her youth, she was active in 4-H, home economics, band, square dancing, and Eastern Star. She has always been focused on family, raising her sons and later granddaughter after her youngest son, Teddy Tankersley passed away. She devoted most of her time and energy after retiring from NMSU in caring for her son, father, older brother, sister-in-law, younger brother and mother as their health deteriorated. She is preceded in death by husband Boyce and Ken Hill, her mother Alma Fox, father Glen Fox, older brother Bobby Fox, her sister-in-law Mary Ellen Fox and youngest son Teddy Tankersley. She is survived by her brothers, Teddy Fox, and two sons, Boyce Tankersley(Carol) and Tim Tankersley(Lois), and grandchildren Gabe Tankersley, Cecelia Soesbe (Beau), and Krista Tankersley,Lisa Vance (Bryce), Marissa Drager (Eric),great-grandchildren Grady Vance, Maya Vance, Maesa Drager, Ethan Drager and Maddox Drager. A viewing will be October 5, 2016, from 5-7pm at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church, at 10am, October 6, 2016.
