Lee Brooks

Lee R. Brooks, Jr. (94) of Las Cruces died peacefully on July 20, 2024. He was born January 22, 1930 in Brady, Texas. He was the son of Lee Roy Brooks, Sr. and Louise Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James T. Brooks and his sisters Barbara Pittard and Anita Turner. He served honorably in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1954. In 1952 he married his love and life partner of 72 years, Barbara Louise Tedrick in California. After finishing his education at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas in 1956, they moved to El Paso, Texas in 1956 where he was a licensed CPA. In 1965 they moved to Las Cruces where he practiced public accounting until his retirement in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, their three sons, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. His sons are Russell (Karen) of Las Cruces, NM, Donald (Anne) of Tucson, AZ, their children Adam of Pflugerville, TX and Ellen of Sacramento, CA, and Lawrence (Kathy) their children Alyssa Reeves, Robert, and Ty of Los Alamos, NM.

After retiring from accounting Lee spent some of his time traveling around the United States with his wife Barbara. He also dedicated many hours to researching the genealogy of his family and made many connections around the world.

In memory of Lee the family suggests a donation to the local chapter of the American Red Cross where Lee served in a number of offices over the years. https://www.redcross.org/local/az-nm.html

A private celebration of his life will be held at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, NM.
