Larry W. Silva

Larry W. Silva, 69, lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008. He was born July 20, 1939 in Las Cruces to Elfego and Adela Alvarez and later adopted by Tony and Mildred Silva. Larry was a veteran of the US Navy where he served his country honorably as a Gunners Mate. He also was a retired Director of Maintenance from the City of Las Cruces after many years of faithful service. Larry was an avid sportsman who enjoyed softball. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Mary of the family home; children: Larry Jr., Cindy Dennis and Frank and Tina Silva and Pat; brothers Ben Silva and Norma and Tony Alvarez sisters Mabel Angel and Peggy Alvarez. Also surviving Larry are his grandchildren Tony, Brandi, John, Toni, Karen, Tawni, Lilah and Dakota and by great-grandchildren John, Dante, Samantha, Elijah, Aliayh and Neveah. Preceding him in death were Tejon Alvarez and Lela Avila At Larry's request cremation has taken place and his cremains will be buried at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008.
