Ladena Baker

November 17, 1931 — January 30, 2023

LADENA MAE BAKER (nee Feltenberger) broke the bonds of earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 30th. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bud, and sister Shirley. She is survived by a brother, Dale Feltenberger of Nowata, Oklahoma. She leaves behind her husband of 72 years Cyrus Baker, four kids; Mike (and wife Linda), Cyrus (and wife Emilia), Lora (and husband Lee Golden), and Mary (and husband Dean Alberson), 14 grandkids, and 20 great grandkids. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Chase Cyrus Baker. She was born November 17th, 1931 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Adrian and Almeda Feltenberger. She married Cyrus Baker on August 12th, 1950. She would describe herself as a simple country girl, but she was much more than that. LaDena was born to be a mother and grandmother. Her love of her family dominated everything she did and impacted all who were fortunate enough to know her. She had a quiet spirit and was always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a steadfast and loving companion. Although quiet, she had a perceptive and intuitive intelligence and was always quick to laugh at a joke. She was a wonderful cook as the family will tell you. She was willing to share her recipes, but they always lacked her "touch" when they were replicated. Memories of the family will always include gatherings for holidays and birthdays as she was so much a part of them. We will miss the Saturday "hamburger night", being spoiled on our birthday by cooking our favorite meal, and the wonderful candies and treats she made at Christmas. She was also a wonderful seamstress and made many dresses for her daughters, as well as numerous other things including comforters and blankets which were enjoyed by all on cold New Mexican nights. She loved her Dallas Cowboys and carried a not so secret crush on George Strait (his music of course). Her passing leaves a big void in the hearts of all that loved her. We were privileged to know her and be loved by her. Our loss is tempered in the certain knowledge that she has been embraced by Jesus and that she is finally home. Services will be held at Getz Funeral Home, Las Cruces, NM on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. followed by a graveside service at Masonic Cemetery. A reception is being held at New Covenant Fellowship after the services. Interment Location
