Kenneth Raymond Mccardle

August 6, 1945 — August 29, 2023

He recently stood before our Lord Jesus Christ and heard the words… ‘Welcome home my faithful servant, a job well done". Kenny probably replied, ‘Thank you Lord, what can I do to help?' You may have known him as Kenny Boy, Babe, Dad, Dado, Papa, Opa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Friend, Co-Worker or simply as an amazing man named Kenny that you were blessed to meet. Although, the world does not feel right today and it feels like a piece of our hearts are missing, knowing he is in the arms of Jesus serves as joy to replace pain and sorrow.

When anyone hears the name Kenny McCardle, it is followed by a quick reaction of a smile, a warm heart and often statements like, ‘He is the nicest guy', ‘Oh, he helped me with...' or as his brother said, ‘One of a kind; the absolute best person'. He touched everyone he met along the way. Kenny's humble yet strong character bright with the light of Jesus' love shining through him. His love for our Lord, his family and those God put in his path was abundant and was obvious to all in everything Kenny did, which made it impossible not to love, adore and respect him.

Kenny was born in Hatch, New Mexico on August 6, 1945, and moved to Las Cruces, NM at the age of five. He was raised by parents Regis (Mac) and Clestea McCardle, alongside his sister Carol Fieldcamp, and brothers Regis (Sonny), Dennis, and Bruce. At the age of 18, Kenny met the Love of His Life, Sharon Hines at 16 and they were married a year and a half later on December 20, 1964. Those who have witnessed their journey through life with each other and God at the helm for 60 years, will tell you it is the sweetest love story for the ages.

Kenny accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of 21 and was blessed by circles of strong Christian friends of First Baptist Church, which is still true to this day. Kenny was a Deacon and leader to so many in multiple ways.

Kenny and Sharon are parents to two daughters, Sharla McCardle and Sherri Hamrick, who he often referred to as ‘those crazy girls'. Kenny was a strong but gentle father who led with love and godliness. He was also a blessed and beloved Papa to two amazing granddaughters, Mckaela and Mckynze Hamrick, known as "the little girls", children of Sherri and husband, Michael. He loved the time with family spent together and always joined in with smiles, laughs, a goofy face and funny stories. Kenny joyously attended the little girls' various church, sports, and school events.

Kenny was an intelligent, talented hard worker and servant to his God, church and his family. He never hesitated to lend a hand or offer a prayer. Kenny was an Electrical Engineer for NASA at WSTF for 47 years and part of the Space Shuttle program from first to final launch, retired in 2016. Kenny was also a presenter for the SIAD Educational Program and visited schools to share the endless possibilities in the space program. In 1995, he added Real Estate to the mix and became the top commercial seller his first year, while working part time until he retired in 2022. He believed it to be the business of making dreams come true!

Kenny's most beloved past times were spending time at the family cabin in Ruidoso. He also enjoyed traveling with family on cruises and road trips. He and Sharon were blessed with the many adventures they enjoyed throughout their lives. Kenny also enjoyed drawing, calligraphy, playing cards and other games, doing puzzles, going camping and fishing and fellowship with family and dear friends.

Kenny was a generous soul who always put other's needs and desires ahead of his own. His wish for all of us left here is to be happy and live life to the fullest with the guidance of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Kenny went to be with Jesus on August 29, 2023, shortly after spending is 78th birthday with family and friends at his cabin. Kenny is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Sharla McCardle and Sherri Hamrick and husband, Michael Hamrick, granddaughters, Mckaela and Mckynze Hamrick, sister, Carol Fieldcamp, brother Bruce McCardle and wife, Nora, brothers-in-law Billy and Donny Hines, sister-in-law, Marcella Chambers and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and all his dear friends he considered family, who always referred to him as THE BEST…
