Josie L. "Fita" Gonzales

Josie "Fita" L. Gonzales went to be with the lord after a long battle with cancer surrounded by her family in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the of 63. Josie is survived by her mother Soledad Loya of Las Cruces New Mexico, her husband Steve Gonzales, Her son Estevan Gonzales (Vanessa) and daughter Stephanie Martinez (Paul) and two granddaughters Victoria and Ryen. Her four sisters Ignacia Dominguez (Manuel), Maria Enriquez, Theresa Alvidrez (Armando), Elvira Loya (Hector) and three brothers Leopoldo Loya (Rosa) Ramo Loya (Martha) Javier Loya (Susana) and her many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Juan Loya and brothers Roberto, Gabriel, Sergio Loya of Chihuahua, Mexico, her brother- in- law Manuel Enriquez of Las Cruces her mother-in-law Catalina and father-in-law Jose Leon Gonzales. Josie was born in San Francisco De Borja Chihuahua Mexico on March 7, 1955 to Juan Loya and Soledad Campos. She married Steve Gonzales on March 16,1986. During their 32 years of marriage, they welcomed a son Estevan and a daughter Stephanie. Her family remembers her as an unconditional loving, caring, and patient mother who always wanted the best for her family. Josie worked for Roberto's Mexican Food for ten years and Campo Behavioral Health for seven years. Josie was remembered by her love for dancing and singing her cumbias, her love of animals especially her dog Nicky, and spending time with her family. Josie was a dedicated parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. The family would like to thank Presbyterian and Lovelace hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Ambercare Hospice caregivers for their outstanding care and dedication. Visitation is scheduled for Friday November 16, 2018 from 5-7pm, Rosary beginning at 7pm at Getz Funeral Home 1410 E Bowman Ave Las Cruces, New Mexico 88001. Funeral services will be officiated by Very Rev. Bill McCann the following day, Saturday November 17,2018 at 2pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral 1240 S Espina St, Las Cruces, New Mexico 88001, with burial services at Masonic Cemetery 760 S Compress rd. Las Cruces with reception to follow, all are welcome to come celebrate her life.
