Joshua Sena

Joshua "Josh" "Geesh Guash" Sena, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at the age of 38. Josh was born on June 25, 1981, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Bertha Chavez (Sauceda) and Louis Sena. Josh was a vibrant baby, and grew up to be a mischievous, fun teenager and adult, full of life. He went to high school at Las Cruces High and San Andres High, graduating in 2001. As an adult he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for a few months, but Las Cruces was home. As a young man, Josh became well-known within the Las Cruces community. He was a fiercely loyal friend who spent his time trying to help and make others feel loved. He enjoyed the love from his large circle of family and friends, and was always ready to take on new adventures with them. His lasting legacy will be the number of people whose lives he touched through his love, actions, words, and contagious smile and laughter. Josh was preceded in death by his grandfather, Seferino Sauceda; his grandmother, Agustina Sauceda; and his grandfather Ignacio Sena. He is survived by his wife, Leanna Apodaca, and her five children, Destiny, Teanna, Dazilynn, and Jasmine Apodaca, and Lacee Lucero; his mom and dad, Bertha and Armando Chavez; his grandmother, Felice Sena; his dad and stepmom, Louis and Renee Sena; his nephew, Nathan Julian Sena; his siblings Louis Edward Sena, Michael Angelo Sena, Lisa Sena (and daughter Myah Sena), Celina Bradshaw (and husband Justin Bradshaw, daughters Bettie and Sadie Bradshaw), Gina Sena (and son Aidan Sena), Alexis Sena, and Isabelle Sena; his crazy cousins (other brothers), Patrick Maestas, Jr., Alonzo Maestas, and Julio Caesar Maestas; his crazy uncle and aunt (other parents) Patrick and Maria Luisa Maestas; and many, many other aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, blood-related and not, throughout New Mexico and northern Mexico. A celebration of Josh's life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 9 am at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 East Bowman Avenue, Las Cruces, New Mexico, 88001. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
