Josephine M. Franco

Josephine M. Franco, 83 lifelong resident of Las Cruces, died Friday, March 26, 2010. She was born June 26, 1926 in Las Cruces to Julian and Angelita Cisneros Montoya. She was a devoted catholic all of her life and was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral Church and participated in church functions whenever she could. Josephine loved meeting her friends for breakfast at Roberto's, she enjoyed music, the piano and listening to her favorite song "Ave Maria" but her passion was for her family. She will forever be loved and missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sons Larry Franco and wife Sheryl of Organ, NM and Chuck Franco and wife Susana Martinez of Las Cruces; daughter Gina Selga and husband Daniel of Las Cruces; grandchildren Eric Franco, Serena and husband Rudy Carbajal, and Carlo Franco, Andy, Daisha, and Ezekiel Alvarez, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Fred Franco; grandson Joel Fernandez; sisters Nina, Tini, Bessie and Pauline and by a brother Lencho. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 pm on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home with a prayer vigil to follow at 7:30 pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be at11:00 am on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Ben Rivera, Pat Mirabal, Fred Lucero, Figgy Griego, Carlo Franco, and Sam Montoya. Honorary Pallbearers are, Gilbert and Alfonso Zamarripa, Frank Mirabal, Danny Montoya, Eloy and Ronnie Lucero, Dario, Jesus and Tito Rivera, Richard Howard, Bobby and Sammy Medina, Gilbert Flores Rudy Carbajal, Lucky Rios and John Dominguez.
