Joseph G. Rightweiser, "J.R.", 73 of Las Cruces, NM died Monday, December 10, 2007 at Las Cruces Nursing Center. He was born September 14, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Charles and Elizabeth Rightweiser. J.R. served his country honorably, retiring after 27 years in the United States Army. He served during the Korean War, and the Viet Nam Conflict as a special forces Green Beret. He had been a resident of Las Cruces since 1982 and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. J.R. is survived by three sons, Gary Rightweiser of Las Cruces; Ronald Rightweiser of Chicago, IL; and Scott Rightweiser of Seattle, WA. Three daughters, Kristina Vetter of Phoenix, AZ; Juanita Warman of Maryland; and Peggy Yaggie of Pennsylvania. He also has one brother, Carl Rightweiser of Pittsburgh, Penn. and two sisters, Betty Chapla and Donna Jean Liska both of Pittsburgh. Nine grandchildren also survive J.R., Brendon, Ronnie Joe, Benjamin, Conner, and Shawn Rightweiser; Megan Vetter and Cameron Yaggie, Tawnya Patillo and Melissa Czermda as well as six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years Joyce Lynn Rightweiser and his parents Charles and Elizabeth. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Monday December 17, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 10 AM on Tuesday December 18, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marcus Burr officiating. Burial will follow at 2 PM on Tuesday at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Ft. Bliss Honor Guard. PDF Printable Version
