Josefa Rubio

Josefa "Josie" "Pepa" Bustamantes Rubio, 77, of Las Cruces died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007. She was born March 19, 1930 in Mesilla, NM to Nacho and Alvina Bustamantes. Pepa had a great love for her church and family. She enjoyed cooking for her loved ones and sewing for her enjoyment. Pepa prayed daily in the chapel she had at her home. All who knew and loved her will truly miss her and remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and true friend. She is survived by two sons; Robert Martinez and wife Herlinda of La Mesa, NM and Sonny Martinez and wife Terrie of Las Cruces, NM, two daughters Sylvia R. Barela and husband Danny of Phoenix, AZ Betty J. Moore and husband Tom of Englewood, CO. She is also survived her brother and sisters Esther Talamantes, Licha Silva, Kayo Bustamantes, Emma Cross, Mary Banegas, Eppie Misquez, Nacho Bustamantes and by eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren (soon to be sixteen) many nieces and nephews and many more loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Natividad "Nati" M. Rubio, sister Alvina Bustamantes, son Joseph Rubio, grandson Jr. Martinez and her parents Nacho and Alvina. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. Her funeral mass is at 10 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rory Moore, Daniel Bustamantes, Roman Prieto, Daniel Barela III, Brion MacNeil, and Isaac Prieto. Honorary Pallbearers will be Melissa Martinez, Ennette MacNiel, Melinda Gardea, Nancy Martinez, Jannette Barela, Caitlin Moore, and Tommy Montoya. PDF Printable Version
