José L. Saenz, 89, Las Cruces, NM, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Jose went to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Ramona and Aniceto Saenz on September 22, 1934, in Pilar de Conchos, Valle de Zaragosa, Chihuahua, Mexico. At a young age he came to the United States for a better life. It was here that he met his beloved wife of 51 years María L. Saenz. He worked for many years in the field of construction as a laborer and later as a cement mason. He was a lifetime member (50 years) of the Laborers International Union of North America (Local 16). He retired to devote himself as a grandfather, known as papá José, he dedicated his life to his grandkids. He loved to spoil them and took care of them like a father should. Not only was he a dedicated father to his daughters but also to his grandchildren. At any given time, he would drop everything to help his daughters and grandkids and help anyone that needed him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife María L. Saenz, his parents Ramon and Aniceto Saenz, his brothers and sisters Pablo Saenz, Aurelio Saenz, Perfeto Saenz, Ernesto Saenz, Adela Ontiveros, and Victar “Vita” Grado.

José is survived by his daughters and son, Leticia Saenz-Trujillo, and husband Arthur of Las Cruces, NM, Gisela Saenz of Long Beach, CA, Sylvia Saenz of Las Cruces, NM and Santos Saenz and wife Vicky of Arizona, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Cassandra Ramirez and husband Alden, Daniel “Alex” Saenz, Joseph “Mateo” Saenz, and Sophia Trujillo. Two great grandchildren, Alden Jax “AJ” Ramirez, and Roman Jameson “RJ” Ramirez. Left to mourn him also is his only surviving brother Catarino Saenz of Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his beloved “Kitty” who he adored and spoiled till his death. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him and loved him. The family would like to thank all the wonderful health care providers that in one way or another helped and encouraged him during his illness.
