Joe Jimenez Jr., 60, of Las Cruces was called to his heavenly home on January 14th, 2025. Joe was born on February 4th, 1964, in Las Cruces to Mary Jane and Jose O. Jimenez. He attended Las Cruces High School where he developed his love for playing saxophone and graduated in 1982. He was a NMSU Alumni, graduating in 2001 Phi Theta Kappa and was a Dean's list recipient with his associates of applied science in Electrical Technology.
Joe was a dedicated, lifelong educator and tradesman. He obtained his Electrical Journeyman license, Electrical Contractor license, was a NM Certified Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical and Building Inspector, was certified in all international code disciplines; was a Certified Elevator Mechanic; had multiple OSHA/Safety Certifications and held several LLC companies, including Expert Electric LLC and JnC Services LLC.
He was in the electrical field for over 34 years and earned many certifications and licenses providing him opportunities to work as an Electrical Trades instructor for NMSU/DACC, an inspector at Dona Ana County, a Deputy Director of Operations at NM Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, a Director of Operations for Hatch Valley Public Schools, a Regional Chief Engineer for Heritage Hotels and Resorts, a Project Manager for IDEALS Inc, a Construction Engineer/Electrical Superintendent for Los Alamos National Laboratories, a Senior Quality Assurance Contractor for US Army Corp of Engineers and his most recent position as a Senior Project Manager/Inspector for Wilson & Company Engineers & Architects.
Joe never met a stranger, he always made sure everyone felt special. His love, kindness and joy were contagious and filled every room he walked into. He treasured any opportunity to spend time with family and friends going camping, fishing and hunting, but his greatest passion was helping others. He was a member of the BPOE/Elks Lodge #1119, where he received Elk of the Year in 2012-2013.
Joe's loving and generous spirit is carried on by his spouse Cathy Jimenez, children Sabrina (Justin) Aragon, AJ (Kori) Jimenez, Jessica N. Jimenez and Dylan Miller (Kyannah Mendoza); his 4 grandchildren Brexton, Emmett and Paisley Jo Jimenez and Mark Mendoza; his mother Mary Jane Jimenez, sister Rosie Jimenez and nieces Olivia and Miranda Leyva.
He is preceded in death by his father Jose O. Jimenez Sr and Father-in-law Darwin Norgard.
Services for Joe will be held at Getz Funeral home in Las Cruces on Friday January 31st, 2025 at 1:00pm and a reception to follow at 3:00pm at the Elks Lodge.
