Jose Jesus Ortiz

Jose Jesus Ortiz, 63 of Las Cruces, NM entered eternal life Saturday, August 25, 2012. He was born Aug. 22, 1949 in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico to his father Cecilio Ortiz and his mother Magdalena Pinedo, whom he now joins. He was a loyal employee to the Butcher department at Sam's Club in Las Cruces, NM. As a faithful member of Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, he was devoted to El Santo Nino de Atocha daily and also loved to go the church in Chimayo, NM. As a hobby, Jose enjoyed horse racing in Sunland Park, handball and was a hard worker. Jose also enjoyed whistling, joking and was a true friend to all, but his passion was for his grandchildren. Mr. Ortiz will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Jose is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Rita Ortiz of the family home; son Jose Ortiz and wife Margarita of Las Cruces; daughters Blanca Garcia and husband Juan of Dona Ana, NM, Juanita Gervell and husband Sean of Denver, CO and Socorro Carrasco and husband Eliseo of Dona Ana, NM; brother Thomas Ortiz of Mexico and sisters Aucilio and Maria Ortiz both Of Mexico; grandchildren Gabriel, Beatrice and Samuel Garcia, Sergio and Eliel Carrasco, Sebastian and Nuvia Ortiz, Benicio and Iliana Gervell. Jose was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer vigil starting at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church in Dona Ana. The funeral mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 30, 2012 also at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Dona Ana Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
