John Patrick Deverey

John Patrick Deverey, 88, of Las Cruces passed away peacefully at Memorial Medical Center with his loving partner by his side. 

John was born on March 15, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to John and Ellen Deverey.  He was a devoted partner to Ingeborg Peter and a loving father to his son and daughter.  Before retiring to Las Cruces he owned and operated Arrowhead Sales in Kansas City, Missouri for over 35 years.

An army Veteran of the Korean War, John enjoyed playing golf and volunteered a s a starter at Sonoma Ranch.  He was involved in helping Veterans and volunteered with DAV # 38, where he held every office from Commander, Adjutant, and Treasurer, raising monies to provide reliable transportation for veterans that needed medical transport. The VA- Veteran Service office was also one of his volunteer jobs, helping Veterans apply for disability benefits.  He also served on the Veteran's Advisory Board of the City of Las Cruces.

John helped dozens of local Las Cruces entrepreneurs through his years with Servis Corps of Retired Executives.  He was a kind, generous and loving person who touched the lives of everyone he met.

John is survived by his life partner Ingeborg Peter, her two sons Michael and Markus Peter and their families, by his brother Peter Deverey and his wife Ana of Milwaukee, his son Michael Deverey and his wife Shirley of Colorado Springs and his daughter Lisa Deverey-Spiwak and her husband of Bethesda, Maryland and by his two grandchildren Brian Deverey and Melinda Spiwak.

A Military burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas.

In lieu of flowers a donation could be made to the DAV or the Honor Flight of the South West both dear to John's heart.

John Deverey will be remembered for his good nature and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
