John D. Geubelle

September 8, 1938 — August 10, 2010

John D. Geubelle 71, entered eternal life at Memorial Medical center Tuesday August 10th, 2010 surrounded by his family. John was born September 8th 1938 in Wellington Kansas, to Ernest P. and Cecelia Catherine Geubelle. John was the 4th born son of 5 boys. He and his family were well known farmers in the Wellington area. John took great pride in his family's farm. He married Kay McGee December 9th 1961 in Hollister California. John was a Geodetic Surveyor for the defense mapping agency at White Sands Missile Range. His Career as a Geodetic Surveyor took John and his family through 48 out of 50 states, before settling in Las Cruces NM in 1974. John received many awards and achievements during his 35 years as a Geodetic Surveyor. Following his retirement in 1994, John was finally able to enjoy his hobby of restoring antique tractors full-time. John greatly enjoyed his hobby. He was a past president, and long time serving member of the New Mexico Vintage Iron Tractor Club. Along with his strong desire for tractors, John started his own business "48 hours of Las Cruces" where he became a legal process server for the courts in Las Cruces. John was always a firm believer in doing things to the absolute best of your ability in all aspects of life. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother Francis Geubelle. Survivors include his wife Kay Geubelle, sons, Mark Geubelle of Albuquerque NM, Greg Geubelle of Albuquerque NM, Daughter Darcy Salopek and son in law Louie Salopek of Las Cruces NM. Grandchildren Brennen Jeffers and Brycen Salopek of Las Cruces NM, Francis Geubelle and Alexandria Geubelle of Boca Raton FL, and Hannah Geubelle of Albuquerque NM. Brothers Leon Geubelle and wife Shirley of Wichita Ka, Gilbert Geubelle and wife Louise of Baton Rouge La, Bill Geubelle and wife Marianne of Ponca City OK. and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel on Monday August 16th 2010, at 2:00 p.m. Burial of cremains will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
