Herrera and wife Linda Herrera. He is preceded by his parents, Ismael and Flora Herrera, siblings Norma and Juni Herrera. Born February 26th, 1955, in Las Cruces, he was a man of humble beginnings who strove to make a difference in the world. He dedicated 33 years of his life to public schools as the head custodian, mentor, and role model for thousands of students. His passion for his work was only surpassed by the love and dedication he had for his family. He was an exceptional husband, a loving father, and an adoring grandfather who always put his family first. His love was a guiding star, illuminating the path for his children and grandchildren. His nurturing character, wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed. He was a gifted artist, showcasing his love for native culture through his art. His intricate and symbolic pieces, especially his beautiful depictions of crosses and scenes from native folklore, were a testament to his talent and deep respect for cultural heritage. His work not only brought joy to those who admired it but also educated many on the rich tapestry of native traditions. An avid lover of classic cars, he could often be spotted driving around in his 59 Chevy Apache or 66 Impala, taking long drives with his wife. His passion for these vehicles was infectious, igniting a love for classic cars in son and grandkids. He was a man of the outdoors who found peace and contentment in the lap of nature. From camping trips in the woods to quiet afternoons spent fishing with his family. His passing leaves a void that can not be filled, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched. He taught us the importance of family, the value of education, the beauty of art, and the peace that can be found in nature. Though we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the countless ways he touched our lives. We will remember him as a dedicated husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a gifted artist. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Beverly Hills Lodge on September 29th, 2023. We invite all who knew him to join us in celebrating his life and sharing the memories that make his absence a little easier to bear.
