It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Baca, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who lived an extraordinary life filled with love, adventure, and purpose. Joe passed on December 15 surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with kidney cancer.

Born on May 7, 1962, Joe was raised in Southern California and Japan, a unique upbringing that shaped his open-minded and adventurous spirit. In 1991, he moved to Las Cruces, where fate brought him together with Jennifer Segura, the love of his life. Together, they shared 33 beautiful years, 30 of them as husband and wife, building a family and a legacy of love.

In 1999, Joe founded Precision Mortgage Group, a business that reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to his community. He embodied the roles of an inspiring leader, a loyal friend, and a mentor to many. Joe truly embraced life, relishing the adventures he had with his family and the countless memories they created together. His selfless contributions to the Las Cruces Home Builders Association were notable, as he dedicated over 15 years to providing meals for families in need within the community. At the peak of the Thanksgiving Food Drive, he was instrumental in delivering over 500 meals to children’s families at local elementary schools.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose A. Baca Sr. and Kitty Baca, Easter Gonzales and Valerie Baca; and his brothers Jerry, Jim, Tim, and Michael Shock.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer, and their beloved son, Donavan. He also leaves behind his mother- and father-in-law, Manny and Jenny Segura, as well as his siblings: John Shock, Tom Shock, Pattyann, Jack (Becky) Crutchfield, Sam (Isabel) Crutchfield, Francisco Baca, Sharron (Michael) Hosfeld, Reggie (Cathy) Gonzales, and Henry James Gonzales. He was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews and a father figure to “bonus kids” who found guidance and love in his presence.

Joe’s life was a celebration of love, family, and community. He will be remembered for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone he met. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 18 at 2:00 PM at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces, NM. Family and friends are invited to join us as we honor and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who meant so much to so many.

Joe, you will be deeply missed, but your memory will live on in the countless lives you touched. Rest in peace.
