Jerry James Cole

December 5, 1933 — July 14, 2005

James "Jerry" Cole, 71 of Las Cruces died Thursday July 14, 2005 at Mountain View Regional Hospital. He was born December 5, 1933 to Jessie and Jimmie Cole in Gorman, Texas. He was raised in the oil fields of West Texas and graduated from Kermit High School 1951. Jerry earned his Bachelors Degree from Texas Tech University before serving his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He then came to Las Cruces where he earned his Masters Degree in Physics from New Mexico State University in 1960. After graduation Jerry went to work at the Standard Labs at White Sands Missile Range, and then in 1966 he worked at the Kirtland Air Force Base. In 1972 he moved to Ft. Huachuca were he worked until he moved back to Las Cruces in 1976. Once in Las Cruces Jerry started and was the President of Cole Properties. He loved life and had many hobbies including bowling, remote control airplanes, computer programming, astronomy, Ham radio, and also had a private pilots license. Through his hobbies he touched many lives, and will be missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Patricia Cole of the family home, one son; Chris and wife Leann of Las Cruces, NM. He is also survived by four step-grandchildren; Joseph Pagano of Las Cruces, NM and Nichole Pagano, Michelle Pagano, and Steven Pagano of Philadelphia, PA area. He was preceded in death by his son Eric A. Cole in 2000. A visitation will be held Sunday July 17, 2005 at Getz Funeral home. The funeral service will be at 9:00 AM Monday July 18, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Pagano, Bob Baur, Ken Poor, Richard Barmcq, Jim Withers, Roy Willoughby, Bill Schluter, and Doyle Wooley. Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Schluter, Eric Schluter and Dewey Schluter, T.C. Ashby, and Conrad Miller. PDF Printable Version
