Jennie Rowlison, née Ortiz, passed peacefully on November 19th at the age of 93 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Jennie was the first of six children to be born to Sarah and Henry Ortiz, in Nambé, New Mexico (followed by siblings Gilbert, Angie, Eddie, Sylvia, and Linda). Jennie attended Loretto Academy in Santa Fe, where she graduated in 1949. In 1953 Jennie married the love of her life, Hermon Rowlison and over the next 10 years the couple had four children: Yvonne, Kenneth, Henry, and Lisa.

Jennie worked in administrative roles at Sandia Laboratories (Albuquerque, NM), Hercules (Salt Lake City, UT), Lockheed (Sunnyvale, CA), Pojoaque Valley Schools (Pojoaque, NM), and for Pueblo Builders, in Las Cruces.

Jennie knew no strangers, making friends with just about everyone she met - whether on a plane, at church, or work. She was a funny, kind, and overall wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved gardening and created beautiful rose and iris gardens at home. She loved the symphony and other types of live and recorded music. She was a beautiful soul, and she will be remembered fondly by all those who knew her.

A rosary will be held Friday, December 20th at the Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary 1240 S. Espina, Las Cruces, New Mexico at 10:00 am, followed by a Requiem Mass at 10:30 am and celebration of life at the Cathedral at 11:30 am. Interment will occur the same day at 1:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens 5140 W Picacho Avenue, Las Cruces where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Hermon.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Haciendas at Grace Village where Jennie lived for the last 18 months of her life.
