James R. Davis

James R. Davis, 50 of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at home, after a long and courageous battle with severe pulmonary hypertension. He was born October 3, 1958 in Las Cruces, NM to Edwin and Bilye Jo Davis. "Jim" as he was affectionately known, is survived by his companion, Theresa Conrad of Las Cruces; mother, Bilye Jo Nordwall and step-father Carl Nordwall of Las Cruces; brothers, Robert E. Davis (Kim) of Lewisville TX; Steven O. Davis (Julia) of Las Cruces; step brothers, Thomas Nordwall of Minot, ND; Clay Nordwall, Michael Nordwall, Richie Hinson (Nordwall) all of Las Cruces, step sisters, Judy Carter (Dan) of Granville, ND; Jill Harvey (David) of Minot, ND; Laurisa McClendon (Andrew) of Los Angeles, CA; Charla Ellis of Minot, ND; and Suzanna McClendon Nordwall of Las Cruces, NM. Also surviving Jim is his stepmother, Patsy Davis of Alba, TX, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin O. Davis; step-brother, Andrew McClendon Nordwall; paternal grandparents, L.C. and Marie Davis and maternal grandparents, John and Lucille France. Jim had an outgoing personality that was not limited by his deafness, and he made friends easily. His love for animals and nature endeared him to all that he met. He always wanted to be independent, and even drove himself to his appointments with the numerous doctors and nurses who treated him. Jim will be greatly missed, but always remembered by his family and friends. A visitation of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, March 30, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday March 31, 2009 also at Getz Funeral Home with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Felix Gonzales. Following interment, a gathering of family and friends will be held at the home of Jim's aunt and uncle, Dr. James and Mary Tucker. PDF Printable Version
