James L Warren

March 24, 1953 — December 2, 2018

James Leslie Warren (Jim) was born in Las Cruces, NM on March 24, 1953, to Charles E. Warren and Bess L. Warren (Evans). He graduated from Mayfield High School in 1971. Jim was a talented athlete, starting with baseball and football, but basketball was his game. He held the record for the most points scored in a single game for MHS for several years. His dad taught him to snow ski and water ski at an early age, which he excelled at. When he bought his first boat, he made sure it was enjoyed by many of his friends and family. Jim spent his career in construction and truck driving and was proud of his safe driving record. After retirement, he became an avid gardener and his door was always open for his friends/family for impromptu good times. The combination of his intellect and quick wit kept everyone on their toes and laughing. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elizabeth Jo (BJ) Getz and nephew Clay Warren Curtis. He is survived by his brother Danny Warren and wife Lisa, his sister Carroll Curtis and husband Ron Grannis. Also by his many nieces and nephews, Raquel Frazier and husband Jason, Steven Getz and wife Christi, Bryan Getz, Chad Getz and wife Christi, Miles Houser and wife Michelle, Amanda Warren, Phillip Warren, Bridgette Warren and Chris, Chase Curtis and wife Stacey, and Caitlyn Curtis. Along with many great nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly and was very proud of, and by his beloved dogs Buda and Nala. His life will be celebrated with a gathering of his friends and family on Saturday, December 8th, at 1:00 P.M., starting at La Cueva picnic area. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doa Ana Humane Society will be appreciated.
