James B. Prince, Our beloved husband, father, and PaPa, James Burton Prince, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Phyllis; two daughters Debra Prince and L. Diane Prince; three grandchildren Amanda Luchetti (Craig), T.J. Romero (Chassity), Harrison (Jito) Hutchinson; three great-grandchildren Ariana, Julian, and Trey; his siblings Alcid Prince, Virginia Jo Oliver, Verlin Prince, Patsy Holley, and Morris Prince; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Richard Ziehl; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Jimmy was born in Patterson, Arkansas on November 5, 1934, to Maynard and Vera Prince. He married his sweetheart Phyllis J. Alfrey on September 4, 1954, and shared their lives and their love for over 56 years. Jimmy was a private man whose family was always his first priority. He was a hard worker, and was employed as an electrical lineman at El Paso Electric Co, WSMR, and Solar Electric Co. Jimmy was a proud, but simple man who could be counted on by both family and friends for he was truly a man of integrity and honor. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and water ski and camp at Elephant Butte Lake. Two of his favorite pastimes were to spend his evenings on his back porch "thinking" and spending time in his garage creating wonderful wooden pieces that he shared with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Maynard and Vera Prince, his wife's parents Chalmer and Nellie Alfrey, his sisters Genevieve Allman and Monnarie Cowdry, his brothers Murray Dean Prince and Dwight Prince, and lifelong friends Robert and Marilyn Boyd, Claudie and Buddy Goins, and Nancy and Bill Clements. A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Jimmy Prince at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24 at Getz Funeral Chapel. Cremation has taken place.
