It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Jacqueline Rose Busher, beloved wife, sister, mother, and granny. Jackie passed away on September 17, 2024, in Las Cruces NM with her husband, three children, four grandchildren, and both son in-laws by her bedside. She was 78.
Jackie was born in New Rochelle NY to Edward and Virginia Bracken. She has two siblings, Eleanor (predeceased) and Eddie. Jackie is survived by her husband Bill, brother Eddie, daughters Dawn and her husband Tom, Julie and her husband Jon, her son Michael and her four grandchildren Taylor, Hayley, Zack, and Brooke.
Jackie attended St. Augustine School, followed by Mamaroneck High School in Westchester County New York. She was a member of the YMCA, where she excelled at swimming as a member of the “Flying Fish” group. Jackie’s favorite after school activities also included ice skating, sleigh riding, bowling, tennis, kickball, basketball, and watching movies. After graduating from high school, she attended Berkeley Secretarial School. She started her first job at Time Inc. in New York City as a secretary with Sports Illustrated Magazine. While raising three children as a single parent, Jackie worked for NYSEG as a customer service representative, kickstarting a 24-year career until her early retirement.
Jackie enjoyed her retirement, spending much of it traveling the world. Her favorite pastime was sailing off on Caribbean cruises with her husband, brother, sister, and their spouses. Jackie was very active, always keeping busy whether it was going to the gym or walks with her husband to tearing up the dance floor at Zumba with her dear friends. As an avid reader, she enjoyed picking out books from the library and exchanging them with her friends. Jackie was fond of comedies (History of the World, Ted Lasso, Eddie Murphy Delirious), she enjoyed watching Blue Bloods drama series, movies, The Mets with her husband, and rocking out to Elvis to name a few. Jackie also had a weak spot for animals, especially dogs. Young at heart, she loved to play and tease her children’s dogs.
Jackie was a North Star. Her bright light and radiant smile and laughter could be seen, felt and heard from thousands of miles away. She was a beautiful person inside and out, very loving and kind, extremely thoughtful, wore her heart on her sleeve, had the best disposition, and didn’t judge anyone. Jackie was so loved, touched many lives with her sweet and outgoing personality, and made friends instantly. She was funny, silly, and just full of life. She will be dearly missed.
