Ilona Ruth

January 25, 1947 — April 10, 2011

After a long struggle with diabetes, loss of sight and a few years ago, kidney failure, beloved wife of Roger, mother of Deborah and Kimberly, grandmother of Kaitlyn, Shanna, Arianna, and Brianna, Ilona Shaw Ruth ended her struggles on Sunday, April 10, 2011, to go home to be with her Lord and Savior, who keeps His promises to give her to the fullest, life everlasting. While she could, she enjoyed life to the fullest, Classical music and opera were an enjoyment. She learned to play the piano, organ, and flute and built a harpsichord from a kit. She enjoyed birds and the great outdoors. Road trips with her family let her see more of God's creation. When inside, she loved cooking, doing jigsaw puzzles, cryptograms, Asimov quizzes, and crocheting. She took the promises of God in the Bible seriously and loved her life accordingly. After a pituitary tumor reduced her sight, she earned a Masters Degree in Technical Writing. She began to feel the weight of her infirmities over the last 4; years, when the diabetes further reduced her sight and produced kidney failure. Her God called her home to Heaven when her heart stopped beating and the power of human doctors was usurped by her Heavenly Father and Great Physician. She no long has diet restrictions, no more dialysis, and she has her sight back. She is free! She is also survived by her younger sisters Susan and Anne and their families as well as younger brother Benjamin and his family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Irene Shaw of Roswell; two grandchildren, Seth and Shakira, as well as two miscarriages before Deborah was born. A viewing will be held Friday, April 15, 2011 from 5 to 7 at Getz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at University Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 10:00 am followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
