Hilda Garcia Martinez

Hilda Garcia Martinez, age 93, of Hatch, New Mexico, passed away on January 28, 2025. She was born on May 13, 1931, in Rodey, NM, to Cecilio and Francisca Garcia. Hilda was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to her family, exemplifying love and resilience as she raised her ten children. Her nurturing spirit guided them through life, instilling valuable life skills and offering words of wisdom whenever they were needed.

 Hilda found joy in her passions, spending countless hours tending to her garden and caring for her houseplants. She loved engaging in needlepoint and ceramics, showcasing her creativity and skill through each piece she crafted. Cooking was another cherished activity; preparing meals for her family allowed her to express her love and dedication. Hilda relished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating a warm and welcoming household.

 Hilda is survived by her beloved children, Gilberto Martinez Jr. (Belinda), Natalia Martinez, Roberto “Bobby” Martinez (Ruby), Sadie Ann Avilucea (Fidel), Alice Ogaz (Edmund), Judy Ann Madrid (Ismael), Librado "Lee" Martinez (Mary), and Richard "Ricky" Martinez. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers-in-law, Lupe Martinez and Tony Martinez, sisters-in-law Juana Martinez and Gloria Martinez, twenty-four grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and in-laws. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and strength that will continue to inspire her family for generations.

 A public viewing at 9:15 AM will be held at Our Lord of Mercy Church on February 12, 2025, followed by Rosary, at 10:00 AM, and a Mass at 11:00 AM also at Our Lord of Mercy Church in Hatch, New Mexico, leading to her burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery at 12:00 PM. Hilda will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

 Hilda was preceded in death by her husband Gilberto G. Martinez Sr., parents Cecilio and Francisca Garcia, children Reinaldo Martinez, Teresita Martinez, Brothers Leo Garcia, Roy Gacia and Eduardo “Lalo” Garcia, Sister Josefina “Josie” Pacheco. in-laws Librado Martinez and Epifania Martinez, Brothers-in-law Alejandro Martinez Sr., Salvador Martinez, Paul Naranjo, Ramon Gutierrez, Benny Chavarria and Reynaldo Pacheco, sisters-in-law Esther Naranjo, Amelia Gutierrez, Cecilia Chavarria, Fran Garcia, Abelina Garcia, Aurora Garcia, Adela Martinez and Angie Martinez, 3 Grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandchild.

 Serving as Pallbearers will be Raul Cantu Jr., Anastacio “Tacho” Sanchez Jr., Zachery Ingram, Matthew Ogaz, Mikyle Madrid, Katlin Martinez, Richard Seve Martinez.

Eulogy will be presented by her son, Richard "Ricky" Martinez immediately following the Rosary.
