Hilda Geviene "Gigi" Miller King passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 in Las Cruces, NM, after a yearlong illness. She was 84 years old. Gigi was born in 1931 in San Diego, CA to George Eugene Miller and Rachel Kezia Lindberg Miller. She grew up running barefoot on the hills of Mount Helix near San Diego. She graduated from Grossmont Union High School in 1949, and San Diego State College in 1953, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a minor in music. She married her college sweetheart Gordon King in 1952, and six years later, moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico. While still raising her four children, she attended New Mexico State University, and earned her Master of Arts in Teaching in 1974. Gigi was very involved in the Alamogordo Music Theater and the Republican Party of the state of New Mexico. She had a longstanding career with the New Mexico Public Schools. Among her many interests and passions, she enjoyed travel, hiking, singing, quilting, and spending time with her family. Gigi was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan King, and is survived by her siblings, Joanne (& Chuck) Bruso from La Mesa, Ca., and Bryce Miller from Bonsall, Ca., three daughters, Kathy (& Bob) Nall from Las Cruces, NM., Valerie (& Kelly) Wilson from Durango, Co., Cheryl (& Alan) Smith from Bothell, Wa., and a son, Ronald King (& Anita Oakley) from Manhattan Beach, Ca., her grandchildren Jason Smith, Stephanie Jurado, Scott Wilson and Andrew Wilson. Great grandchildren, Jayden, Kylie, and Ariya Smith, and Ramon and Ben Jurado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Tohono Chul in Tucson. Services will be private.
