Henry Harvey Mckee

February 13, 1916 — December 26, 2008

Henry Harvey McKee was born February 13, 1916 and departed this life on December 26, 2008 at the home of his daughter in Las Cruces, NM. He was born in Jeff, Oregon County, MO, to John H. and Gola Williams McKee. He served his country in World War II in the Philippines as a member of the Army Signal Corp. He had worked for Arkansas-Missouri Power Company in Mammoth Spring, AR, owned several gas stations in Las Cruces, NM, drove a school bus in West Plains MO, Silver City, NM and Gila Bend, AZ, and was also a barber. He was survived by his daughter Rosalie Spangler, of Las Cruces, NM; sister and her husband Ruth and Don Powell of Mammoth Spring, AR. He had seven grandchildren, twelve great- grandchildren and one great- great granddaughter. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Dorothy McKee, brother Gover McKee, his wife Murl the love of his live for seventy-four years, two sons Jon Harvey and Don A. McKee. He had been a member of the Mosaic Lodge, Blue Lodge, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Alto Baptist Church, Alto, NM. A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 am on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 10 am with Smokey Blanton, a long time friend officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. William Baker, his staff, and Mesilla Valley Hospice for all their kindness and compassion.
