Henry Clay Mcintire

Henry Clay McIntire was born September 15, 1930 and went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 21, 2017, children, stepchildren and grandchildren surrounded him as well as his wife Loveta as he slipped beyond the veil, he was 86. Henry McIntire arrived into the Las Cruces community as many of our residents, a trusted member of the United States Army. Henry left home at almost 15 to earn his way in the world, working his way from southern Oklahoma to his birthplace near Abilene, Texas. Henry worked as a mechanic helper, a delivery man, finally finding his way into the oilfields near Midland- Odessa. The United States Army called and Henry enlisted in 1949. The Army found Henry's unique talents and he spent four years working closely with the rocket scientists at the White Sands Missile Range including an all-expense paid 18-month vacation covering all the Korean Peninsula from June 1950 to October 1951. Leaving the Army in 1952 Henry worked for P.R. Burns Construction and eventually found himself knee deep in the construction of the first ICBM missile silos in Western New Mexico. Henry moved his family to Southern California in 1964 and completed two careers in heavy construction, first as a craftsman, Local 12 Operating Engineers, and 20 years as a registered engineer, serving the State of California in Cal OSHA as a Mining and Tunnel Safety Engineer. Retirement brought Henry back to Southern New Mexico where, following the passing of his first wife, Dorothy, ne Raymond, began anew another life with the recently widowed, old friend, Loveta Pruett, ne Duke in March of 2010. Henry's life took him to adventure, war, politics, public advocacy, and business. He ranged the span of the world in his full lifetime as a true champion and protector of a civilized society. Henry is preceded in his journey home by his mother, Edna Janie May McIntire, ne Singleton and father, Nelson Aubury McIntire; brothers Morris Evert, Charlie Arnold, Robert Oliver, Wilburn, Milburn, William Don; sisters Flora Annie, Della, Ermine Areata, Mina Angelia; his son Ernest Wade and wife Dorothy Fay. Sisters Lillieth May, Audry Alma, Margrett Lynn; sons Dennis Earl, Nelson Duane, and Terry Clay; grandchildren Brandon Lee, Justin Lee, Natalie Dawn King, ne McIntire; great-grandchildren Keira Noelle King and Christian James King; wife Loveta McIntire, survive Henry. Henry's celebration will be scheduled for close friends and family at a date and time yet to be determined.
