Harlen Eugene Bradley

July 17, 1932 — December 31, 2016

Long term Las Cruces resident Harlen Eugene (Gene) Bradley died in Las Cruces on December 31, 2016 at the age of 84. Gene was born on July 17, 1932 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to William and Olie Bradley. He went to school in Columbus, New Mexico. He served in the the US Army where he met and married Kitty and they moved to Las Cruces in the early 50s. He developed a thriving recycling business which continued until his passing. He was a man who enjoyed the outdoors in all its forms, whether hunting, hiking, exploring or searching for a little treasure. He was always open to opportunity and as recently as 10 years ago purchased a cattle lease, and realized a dream of ranching. The project brought in most of his immediate family as cowpokes and at the end of the project he proudly announced that he had "broke even". Gene is survived by his children; Cindy Kirckley, Harlen Bradley, Peter Bradley, Dean Bradley, and his longtime companion Elizabeth (Sissy) Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his wife Carey (Kitty) Bradley and his daughter Jeanne Bradley Hren. He was the loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren, and the great grandfather to 9 soon to be 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his youngest sister Ina (Jo) Senn and the very large Bradley Harrison clan. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00am, Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Getz Funeral Home 1410 E Bowman Avenue in Las Cruces with a reception to follow at the BPOE Hall 3000 Elks Drive. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gene's life. In lieu of flowers please send donations to your favorite charity.
