Guy Randolph Dunivan, commonly known as “Randy,” a longtime Silver City, NM resident, passed away in El Paso, TX on Thursday evening (03/20/2025) after battling cancer.
He was born March 5, 1951, in Las Cruces, NM to Guy Franklin Dunivan and Billie Ruth Dunivan. They were originally from the Hatch area. He married Donna Dunivan on April 8, 1972 and had two sons. As a family, they lived throughout southern NM in Deming, Las Cruces, and Silver City. He was a welder/fabricator, worked with the Forest Service, worked in construction, worked at Freeport-McMoRan, and a business owner throughout his lifetime. He was devoted to his family, friends, and had a strong work ethic. He enjoyed spending time welding, leatherwork, hunting, horseback pack trips, camping in the Gila Mountains, his horses, and in most recent times a stray cat named “Patches” that took a liking to him after his first stroke.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; two sons and their families, Justin and Monica Dunivan of Las Cruces, NM, and Cory and Alaina Dunivan of Silver City, NM; a brother, Paul Dunivan of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Donna Sideman of San Diego, California; three grandchildren, Maddy, Wyatt, and Garrett; and many other caring family members and friends.
At his request, there will be no funeral services. After cremation in care of Getz Funeral Home, there will be a small burial service in Deming, NM at a future date. We appreciate everyone’s support, kind words, and friendships during his most recent health challenges. God has a plan and it was time for him to be free of any pain.
