Guadalupe C Quinones

With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend Guadalupe Cadena Quiones, age 95, of Las Cruces and Alamogordo, New Mexico. Guadalupe passed on Friday, March 5, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 6, 1925 in San Ignacio, Chihuahua to Manuel Cadena and Naciencena Maldonado Cadena. She was married to the love of her life, Angel R. Quiones for almost 50 years before his passing in 1995. Guadalupe was a member of the Roman Catholic Church being a long-time member of St. Genevieve Church. She was a strong catholic and loved her saints and catholic traditions. She attended DACC English Citizenship classes to obtain her US Citizenship, she received certificates from the Catholic Church for her monetary donations. She loved family, dancing, music, cooking and doing word games and puzzles. She loved her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known to all including the neighborhood kids and friends as "Grama", "Grama Q" or "GG"! She loved to cook wonderful meals to get the family together! She was happiest surrounded by her big noisy family and friends. Her eyes would light up every time she saw you and made you feel so loved and cherished! We felt the same about her! Everybody she knew loved her mucho, mucho, mucho, mucho! Those left to mourn her passing are her six daughters, Armida Hernandez (Pete+), Elia Quiones (Mark La Fountain), Stella Bernal (Gilbert), Lupe Lujan (David), Ida Quiones (Elfida), Frank Quiones (Sylvia) all of Las Cruces, NM and Ana Waterman (Jerry) of Alamogordo, NM, three sons Angel Quiones (Elfida), Frank Quiones (Sylvia) all of Las Cruces, NM and David Quiones (Rosanna) of Safford Arizona. She is also survived by Lucia C. Casares of Fabens, TX. and Fidencia Martinez of Las Cruces, NM. In addition, she is survived by twenty-three grandchildren, seventy-three great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephew, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Angel R. Quiones, sister Liduvina Hernandez both of Las Cruces, NM and by brother Manuel Cadena of Fabens, TX and sisters Anita Cadena Cisneros of Compton, CA and Josefina Cadena Gonzales of San Ignacio, Chihuahua. Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at St. Genevieve Church, 100 S. Espina St. beginning at 9:30 am with a viewing, recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:30 am followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 am. Reverend Theophine Okafor will preside over services. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Veronica Hernandez, Charlene Avalos, Amanda Quiones, Ashley Quiones, Samantha Morris, Renee Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Hernandez, Ismael Torres, Efren Torres, David Anthony Lujan, Eric Lujan, John Jacob Quiones, Louie Quiones, Israel Tafoya, Rebecca Hernandez, Elizabeth Renteria, Amber Quiones, and Samantha Linney. The family would like to thank Amber Care Hospice in Las Cruces and Alamogordo for the care given to our mother and support to the family in mom's last five weeks.
