She was a devoted aunt to her three adored nieces—Alahni, Gianna Llamas, and Evelyn Essex—who were the light of her life. She found immense joy in teaching them about the beauty of nature, the importance of conservation, and the boundless adventures the great outdoors had to offer.Grecia’s passion for the environment and her thirst for knowledge led her to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Geography with a Minor in Spanish from New Mexico State University in 2015. Driven by a deep sense of purpose, she embarked on a life-changing journey with the Peace Corps, serving for three years in Panama, where she touched countless lives through her generosity and leadership. She later pursued her dream of advocating for environmental and social justice, earning her Juris Doctor from American University in Washington, D.C., in May 2024.Grecia’s career was a testament to her love for the land and her dedication to protecting it. Her first love was trail work, where she contributed to preserving the beauty of New Mexico’s landscapes. She worked for New Mexico Wild, served as a Park Ranger at White Sands, and volunteered in some of the nation’s most breathtaking parks, including Denali, Yellowstone, and Rocky Mountain National Park. Her advocacy extended beyond conservation; she championed water rights in Silver City, NM, and in one of her most impactful contributions, she worked alongside Congressman Gabe Vasquez in Washington, D.C., to reform access to quality medical care for breast cancer patients in New Mexico.Grecia’s life was an adventure filled with exploration, service, and deep faith. She traveled extensively, immersing herself in the cultures of Costa Rica, Budapest, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Panama, and countless destinations across the United States. She found joy in dancing, playing basketball, and worshiping the Lord. Though she never married, her heart belonged to God, and she devoted her life to serving Him, remaining steadfast in her faith until her final breath. As an active member of Citizen Heights Church, she poured her love into volunteering and supporting its many outreach programs. Her kindness knew no bounds. A reflection of her generous spirit, Grecia quietly supported numerous charities throughout her life, many of which were dedicated to cancer research.
