Gilbert Marrujo, 70, of Las Cruces entered eternal rest on January 20, 2025, surrounded in prayer by his family. He was born on May 14, 1954, in Las Cruces NM to Henry and Lucy Marrujo; the second of 5 siblings. He is survived by his son Henry J. Marrujo and wife Cecilia of Avondale AZ and his daughter Tamara N. Munoz and husband John of Carlsbad NM. grandchildren Alesandra R. Portillo, Julian A Portillo and Karyssa N Marrujo and great grandson Elijah J. Portillo. His surviving siblings include Gloria Marrujo, Dolores Ramos, Annette Childers and brother Richard Marrujo. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, also thought of as children of his own, Monica, Gabriel, Domonic, Krystal, Martin, Vanessa and Tiffany along with several great nieces and nephews.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his loving parents Henry and Lucy Marrujo.

Gilbert was a dedicated, hard working man, serving the US Navy, Navy reserves and National Guard. He worked as a handy man, plumber, electrician, heating and cooling as well as in communications with White Sands Missile Range where he retired after 20+ years. While he wasn’t working 2-3 jobs, he coached/ and mentored his children as well as numerous “bonus kids” in T-ball/baseball, soccer and other intermediate sports. He loved fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Gilbert’s life with a public viewing on January 29, at Getz funeral home from 5:00-7:00pm with a rosary following and memorial mass on January 30, at San Albino church at 11:00am
