Georgi Wagner, 80, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on September 10, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, on March 30, 1944, she grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High School.Our beloved 'Tot,' as she was known by her grandchildren, was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and George Switzer; her siblings, Johnny, Jeff, Jenny, and Jaime; and her grandson, Kyler.Georgi is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 37 years, Wayne. Together, they nurtured a family that includes their children: Erin Tom Bachman, Jeff and Kim Wagner, Tony Cowdrey, and Dennis Wagner, each of whom holds her memory close.She is also cherished by her grandchildren: Brittany Wagner, Kacie (Matt) Payne, Dr. Connor W. Wagner (Capt, USAF) (Emily), Jessica (Mark) Scoggin, Zane (Brittani) Wagner, Codie and Gavin Bachman, and Gia and Bodhi Graca-Cowdrey. Her great-grandchildren—Grayson, Mason, Lilli, Tommy, Kingston, & Witten—carry forward her legacy.Georgi’s family also includes her siblings: Jill Jones, Jane & Troy Young, & Gene & Debbie Switzer.Georgi had a vibrant and multifaceted life. She owned a travel agency and a craft store. As a travel agent, Georgi helped many people explore new places and experiences, reflecting her love for adventure and discovery. She was a world traveler and felt more at home stepping onto a plane than getting into a car. This passion extended to a deep appreciation for friends, food, trying new cuisines, and art.Georgi’s talent as an artist was shared with many over the years through her love of teaching and sharing her craft. Her friends—Donnalee, Patty, and Cindy—ensured she continued painting up until the week before she passed, keeping her passion for art alive and well-remembered.Georgi and Wayne shared a deep love for country dancing, music in the park, farmers' markets, fresh tomatoes, and Saturday morning grocery shopping. A true foodie, Georgi delighted in encouraging everyone around her to try new recipes or simply take a bite.A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, September 19th, at 10 AM at Getz Funeral Home, where family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her memory.The family extends their sincerest heartfelt gratitude to the Sierra Hospice Team for their compassionate support during this difficult period of time. Your care and kindness have been a great comfort to our family and to Georgi in her time of need.To Donalee her bestie, a thank you is not enough for your love, support, and dedication to Georgi in these last few months. She cherished her daily time with you.
