George Matt Hensley, age 80, went home to be with our Lord on March 7, 2008. George was born on August 22, 1927, in Kentenia, Kentucky. He joined the Navy in 1945 and served in World War II until 1951. He and his wife, June, were married on June 6, 1951. George had a 34-year career with Westinghouse as a field engineer. His career allowed him and his family to live in several different states and in Iran. He also spent some time working in Argentina and spent several years in Las Cruces during which time he was in charge of the RTMS radar at White Sands. They loved Las Cruces and chose it as their retirement home. George was a sports enthusiast and was especially a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Kentucky Wildcats. He and his wife were members of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club, the Cross-A-Rounds round dance club and enjoyed playing golf in their retirements. They were members of the University United Methodist church. George was much loved and will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Wilma June Hensley, his son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Marget, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his daughter, Melissa and son-in-law, Jeff Miller of Palo Alto, California; grandchildren Amy Tyler of Denver, Colorado, Kevin Hensley of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Eiche Miller of Palo Alto, California.
