Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. Genovevo Garcia 93, of 2285 Sandhill Road, Las Cruces, New Mexico entered eternal rest to be with our heavenly Father on April 3, 2015. Genovevo "Vevo" Garcia, was born January 3, 1922, in Las Animas, Colorado to Francisco and Ipolita Garcia. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosario Cruz Garcia, his parents, his brothers Nacho, Albino, Lalo, Juan, Sales, Panchito, his sisters, Bartola, Reina, Higinia and granddaughter Milissa Cruz. Survivors include one brother Gudalupe Ruiz of Montebello, California, daughter Rosa Cruz (husband Domingo) of Las Vegas, Nevada, sons, Daniel (wife Blanca) Garcia of Colorado City, Colorado, Richard (wife Berna) Garcia, and Gilbert (wife Lisa) Garcia of Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, along with many, many nieces and nephews. Genovevo served during World War II, and was a Purple Heart recipient. While residing in Las Cruces Genovevo worked at the old Memorial General Hospital on Alameda then at Memorial Medical until 1973 when he moved to California until his returned to Las Cruces, in 2014. Visitation will be Wednesday April 8, 2015 at Getz Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, with a prayer vigil to follow at 7 pm, Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday April 9, 2015 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Rick Garcia, Shane Garcia, Roland Garcia, James Garcia, great-grandsons, Rick Garcia III, and Jacob Garcia . PDF Printable Version
