Frances Cleary

Frances Janette Cleary, 84, died peacefully surrounded by family on December 2, 2016 in Las Cruces, NM. She was the wife of Edward James Cleary. They shared 57 years of marriage together living throughout Missouri, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Born in Wichita, Kansas she was the daughter of Martha and James Otto Allen. She graduated from Central Missouri State and received her master's degree from Columbia University in New York, New York in Education. She taught school in Independence, MO in her early twenties. After raising her children, she returned to teaching at James B. Rolle Elementary School in Yuma, AZ for many years. She will be remembered for the laughter she brought to those around her. "Frannie" as she was known by many was known for her quick wit, her love of education and reading, her many friendships, and her love for her grandkids. She enjoyed spending her summers with her family and friends in Colorado. She is survived by her husband Edward Cleary, her sons Michael (Lynda) Cleary, Christopher (Joanne) Cleary and daughters, Kelley (Roger Holt) Coffeen and Katie (Craig) Magdaleno, her grandchildren, Jeremy and Josie Cleary, Holly (Robbie) Mayes, Daniel (Jessica) Coffeen, Brooke Coffeen, Chanel, Cass and Jagan Cleary and Austin (Bailey), Macy, Paisley, Chase and Blayke Magdaleno. She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Cleary, her brothers, Walter and James Allen and her sisters, Dorothy Powell and Mattie Fay Kincaid. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 7 th at 1:30 pm at Getz Funeral Home at 1410 East Bowman Avenue in Las Cruces, NM. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Timothy Cleary Endowed Scholarship in the College of Education at New Mexico State University.
