Felipa P. Cardenas, of Las Cruces, NM died May 15, 2008 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. She was born October 4, 1927 in Gila, New Mexico to Francisco and Francisca Polanco. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. She was an avid Bingo player and at one time was a transporter for Dona Ana County Detention Center. Felipa was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Henry P. Cardenas and wife Hope of Las Cruces; Rosie Diaz and companion James Zapien; of Las Cruces; Eugene P. Cardenas Sr. of Phoenix; Armando P. Cardenas of Las Cruces; Cruzita Jaffe and husband, Frank of Las Cruces; Virginia P. Cardenas of Las Cruces; and Alicia P. Cardenas and companion John Dotzler; one brother, Albert Polanco and wife Gloria; and sister in law Ofelia Polanco. Also surviving are her grandchildren Lisa, Alvenita, Bernadette, Jessica, Heather, Felipa, Desiree, and Marcos; Great grandchildren, Ernesto III, Reyes, Peter III, Dominic, Ray III, Jacob, Brandon, Josh, Kenaniah, Javier, Jacquin, James Jr, Christopher, Daniel, Josh, Gilbert, Marcos, Francisco III, Aleeka, Brittney, Nichole, Brianna, Brittney, Jazmine, and Cruzita. She was preceded in death by her husband Cpl. Marcos S. Cardenas; father, Francisco Polanco; mother, Francisca Polanco; daughter Alvenita P. Cardenas, brothers, Lorenzo and Louis Polanco and grandson Eugene P. Cardenas Jr. Visitation will be from 5 to7 PM on Monday, May 19, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where the Prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be SFC E7, Ernesto R. Diaz Jr, Esteban D. Diaz, Patrick H. Cardenas, Ernesto R. Diaz III, Francisco C. Martin and Sgt. James M. Cardenas. Honorary pallbearers will be her other grandsons and great grandsons. PDF Printable Version
