Faustino Pedraza

July 20, 1935 — January 24, 2021

Faustino "Tino" Pedraza Sr., 85, joined his wife Flora in eternal life on Sunday, January 24, 2021 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Tino was born on July 20, 1935 in Tortugas, NM to Guadalupe Pedraza and after her passing was raised by Pedro and Cruz Pedraza. He married Flora on April 13, 1958 and together they raised three sons affectionately known as Tino, Fernie and Jimmy. Growing up in Tortugas, Tino was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish. He was a proud member of the Tortugas Pueblo - Los Indigenes de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe. Tino was a seasoned dancer for the fiestas and sacred ceremonies. He started his career in the transportation industry at 19 as a truck driver for a variety of companies including H&K, Whitfield Transportation, Sundance, System 99, Tri-State Groceries and lastly at Yellow Freight where he hung up the semi keys and kicked off the life of retirement on June 27, 1997. Tino was a member of the Teamsters Union. In addition to delivering freight in Southern New Mexico, Tino was known as one of the best piano movers in the area. He spent many years delivering pianos (via the Music Box) with his sons and when he could no longer help in moving, he made sure to stay involved by being there to boss the boys around. Tino was good natured and had an infectious laugh. He loved spending time with his grandkids and had a special relationship with each of them. Many will reflect on the memories they have with him camping, hunting and fishing throughout New Mexico and surrounding areas. When not enjoying time outside or keeping busy around the house, Tino enjoyed traveling with Flora and it was almost always guaranteed they would find a casino along their route! He was well known in the Las Cruces community and if you ever needed tamales around Christmas, you knew to call him so he could skip the line at Roberto's. We will greatly miss having our dad and grandpa in our life. He is preceded in death by his mother, sisters (Lencha and Santos), brother (Antonio Molinar) and wife (Flora Quiroga Pedraza). He is survived by his brother Reymundo Molinar and sister Lucy Miranda, numerous nephews and nieces, as well as his three sons, Faustino Jr. (Kelly) of El Paso; Fernando (Denise) of Brazito, and Santiago (Melissa) of Rio Rancho. His grandchildren, Jennifer Thompson (Nathan) of Denver, Brittney Segobia (Mike) of Brazito; Zachary Pedraza of Las Cruces; Damario Pedraza (Erica) of Las Cruces; Addison Pedraza of St Simons Island; and great-grandchildren; Davian and Evangelene Segobia. A public visitation will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe located at 3600 Paroquia Street in Tortugas, New Mexico on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Due to current COVID-19 guidelines in New Mexico, you may enter the church in a group of five at one time. We ask that you please wear a mask and be mindful of time so everyone may say goodbye. The family has elected to host a mass and interment with only immediate family in attendance to keep our remaining loved ones safe.
