Upon graduation he enrolled in Midwest Business College in Pueblo, CO. After completing college, he decided to farm with his dad for 2 years in Lemitar, NM. He then moved his family back to the Hatch valley where he continued to be involved in the farm operation until his death. He showed livestock and was involved in FFA and 4H during his youth as well as his children and grandchildren’s youth and continued to support the fair and livestock shows. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, peach cobbler, and pecan pie. He tilled the land for more than 60 years, fixed his own tractors and equipment when it broke down, drove countless miles between the 3 farms, hauled cotton trailers back and forth to Las Cruces, taught his children and grandchildren how to farm and drive tractors.

He leaves behind his 4 children, Martha of Hatch, Clifton of Lemitar, NM, Rebecca of Hatch, and Johnny of Hatch. 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
