Esther D. Martinez

Esther D. Martinez, 77, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007 in El Paso, TX. She was born Oct. 8, 1929 in Picacho, NM to Florencio and Fernanda Delgado. Esther was a homemaker and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Martinez will be deeply missed by all her family and friends who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Juan B. Martinez of the family home; two sons Steve Martinez and wife Beatrice and Paul Martinez and wife Christine; daughters Olga Baca and husband Jerome T. from Albuquerque, NM, Jane Green and husband Mike from McDade, TX, Mona Ochoa and husband Armando of Las Vegas, NV, and by Melanie Romero of Las Cruces a granddaughter who was raised by the Martinez family as their daughter; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers Lorenzo Delgado; Jesus Delgado and wife Rosella; Benjamin Delgado and wife Carmen; and Luis Delgado and wife Celia; one sister Lupe Clark and husband Juaquin all of Las Cruces. Numerous nephews, nieces and cousins also survive her. Preceding Esther in death were her parents; two brothers Francisco and Manuel and by her sister Ciria. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where the prayer vigil will follow at 7:00 PM. Her Funeral Mass is at 9:00 AM on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be Steve Martinez, Paul Martinez, Jerome T. Baca, Armando A. Ochoa, Michael Green, and Vince Romero, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Lorenzo Delgado, Jesus Delgado, Benjamin Delgado, Luis Delgado, Joe Barrientos, Mike Gonzales, Gil Gonzales Jr., Fred Finley, Melvin Martinez, Dickie Martinez and Larry Martinez.
