Ernesto Neto Lucero

Ernesto (Neto) Lucero, 64, of Las Cruces, died Saturday, April 22, 2006. He was born May 4, 1941 in Picacho, NM to Eluterio and Francisca Lucero. Nieto was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served his country honorably. He was a 1959 graduate of Las Cruces High School and attended NMSU and Nevada State University. Neto was a retired letter carrier with the US Post Office. He was a member of Mesquite Catholic Church, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Moose Lodge and the Letter Carrier Union. He was an avid sports fan loving the game of softball and the Cowboys; he loved to dance, see movies and was very artistic person loving the Arts. He will be deeply missed by all his many family and friends who knew and loved him. Neto is survived by his wife of 46 years Martha Lucero of the family home; children Yvette Lucero, Yvonne Lopez and husband Lupe (Waters), Ernie Lucero Jr. and wife Jackie and Renee (Chata) Skipper and husband Chris; his beloved parrot Pendejo; brother Bernabe Noriega and wife Tomasa (Concha); sisters Estella Guerra and husband Antonio, Mary Garcia and husband Gus, Virginia Acosta and husband Rogelio and Ida Lucero and companion Al Lopez; grandchildren Sonya Lopez, Ernie Lucero, Daniel Lopez, Christopher Skipper, Corey Skipper and Sharlene Lopez. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Katie Jane Skipper and a nephew Ismael Mayo Valenzuela. A prayer vigil will be a 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. His funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 also at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Masonic Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers are Daniel Lopez, Christopher Skipper, Ernie Lucero III, Rufio Ledesma, Gus Garcia, Joe Lucero, Ricky Benavides and Mike Guerra. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gonzalo Rosales, Margarito (Bird) Frausto, Baby Telles, Elias Telles Loretta Borunda and Abel Medina. PDF Printable Version
