Ernest R. Riggs

Ernest R. Riggs 85, of Las Cruces, passed away peacefully Monday June 22, 2015 at Mesilla Valley Hospice-La Posada. He was born May 9, 1930 in Salem, NM to Fred and Rose Riggs. Ernest was married for many years to Margie Lucille Choate. Only having an eighth grade education, Ernest learned to work hard as farmer in the Hatch Valley as well as retiring as a plant manager for ConAgri. Ernest loved racehorses, fishing, and hunting but most of all he loved being with his family. Ernest was survived by one son Ernest W. Riggs, of Las Cruces; two daughters, Rosetta Jeter, of Arrey, Sue Riggs, of Las Cruces; one brother, Freddie Riggs, of Derry, NM; two sisters, Dorothy Gillis, of Arrey, NM, Mary Gillis, Arrey, NM, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Juanita Cheryl Riggs (Sherrie Vanderhaden), and granddaughter Shauna Beth Riggs. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 5:00P.M. - 7:00P.M. at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ernest will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 9:30A.M. at the Garfield Pentecostal Holiness Church. PDF Printable Version
