With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ernest Lopez, who left us peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 61. He was surrounded by his loving family in his hometown of Las Cruces NM.
Ernest was born on November 15, 1963, to Ernest and Elodia Lopez. A devoted husband, brother, father, uncle and grandfather, he is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Mona Lopez; his sister JoAnn (Ray) Osowski, children, Desiree (Mark) Luna, Ernest (Cassandra) Lopez, Stevie Lopez, Alyssa Lopez, Issaiah (Alejandra) Padilla, and Noah Lopez; his 12 grandchildren and 2 nieces.
Ernest spent his career as the proud owner of Valley Muffler, A dedicated mechanic and welder. Beyond his professional life, he found joy in fishing, cheering for the mighty Rams, and spending time with his friends and family. He was known for his kind heart, bigger than life personality, and unwavering support for those he loved.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave. Las Cruces NM 88001. A celebration of Ernest’s life will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Las Cruces First Church, 5605 Bataan Memorial W, Las Cruces, NM, at 10:00 am.
Ernest’s legacy of kindness and wisdom will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
